I have often thought of the path
that my mother took in her life.
I watched with intensity even as a
child, of the strain and strife.
I watched how humble she was,
even though she was aware of her powers.
She could request anything from God,
and God would respond within the hour.
It was amazing how little she asked for,
always for family, love ones and friends.
She was content with the spirit of God,
she lived for defeating the devil and sin.
I often wondered why she never asked for
worldly things, big houses and diamonds rings.
Why she prayed for her enemies as well as friends.
She was preparing her soul to me the King.
I am truly bless to have had a Mother with
so many gifts, and to be able to remember
her foot steps.
Now all I have to do is walk in them.
This poem is not just for my Mother, but for
all Mothers that made sacrifices as they travelled
this road of Motherhood.

My Valentine
How often I have neglected to give
thanks for your unconditional love,
true dedication and respect.
How often I have neglected to
thank you for being a wonderful
wife and mother.
For you have been my friend, my lover,
the backbone of my existence for all
of these years.
Roses, candy, decorated cakes, flamboyant
parties, gifts of diamonds, rubies, traveling
to an isolated island with beautiful flowers
and perfumes.
This would seem like the perfect gift to
give someone as special as you. Because
I know you so well, you would prefer to
continue seeing the gleam in my eyes
every time I come home from work.
You would prefer the soft touches and
agreeable glances that we give each other
as we sit at the table having breakfast and
snacks.
You would prefer that we continue to see
in each other all that's required to sustain
this blessed union..
Knowing all of this, you are still deserving
of all the gifts.
For you are a very special Valentine,
you are mine.
